Chester Drain Doctor Called to Aftermath of Lightning Strike

While storm force winds and rain lashed the North Wales coast a technician from the Chester franchise of Drain Doctor Plumbing and Drainage Ltd (www.draindoctor.co.uk) was called out to repair a burst pipe in a roof caused by a lightning strike.

During a recent storm a cottage on the North Wales coast was hit by lighting. The chimney pot was demolished. Masonry fell through the cottage roof damaging a water pipe in the attic causing water to flood into the house. The electricity supply was also cut during the storm.

Drain Doctor was called to the scene but was unable to access the property for 24 hours while emergency services made the area safe.

Technician Barry Wardell got access to the pipe through the roof space. However, the hole in the roof meant that he was exposed to the elements from the outside while he worked making the work challenging.

During high winds and lashing rain Barry had to climb on to the roof and access the burst pipe through the hole in the roof left by the falling chimney. Despite the adverse weather conditions Barry was able to make the repair in just over an hour.
